Bolton’s Muslim community is concentrated in the wards immediately south and south-east of the town centre — Rumworth, Great Lever and Deane — with a growing presence in the northern wards around Crompton, Astley Bridge and Bromley Cross. The community is unusual in Greater Manchester for its strong Gujarati Indian Muslim presence, alongside a large Pakistani population and a smaller Bangladeshi community.

That mix gives Bolton a distinctive Islamic character: a town where the Muslim institutions were often built by families from Gujarat and where the emphasis on education, both Islamic and secular, is pronounced. Many of our Bolton students come from households where the parents are professionals and the child’s Quran education is treated as seriously as their school work.

Bolton weekday slots run 4pm–10pm and weekends 10am–8pm. Because the Muslim wards cluster around Deane Road and Great Lever, most children walk to maktab and the after-school window is short. The 5pm and 6pm slots fill fastest; families whose children are at maktab until 7pm typically take the weekend package and use it for Tajweed correction.
