Houston has one of the largest and best-organised Muslim communities in the American South, and unusually for a US city it is well served by a single coordinated mosque network spanning the metropolitan area. The community is genuinely diverse — Pakistani and Indian families concentrated in Sugar Land and Katy, a large Bangladeshi community, Arab families from Egyptian, Palestinian, Syrian and Yemeni backgrounds, and substantial African-American, Nigerian and Somali populations.
The practical difficulty in Houston is distance. The metro area covers more than 600 square miles, and for a family in Katy or Clear Lake, getting a child to a good Quran class can mean an hour in traffic each way. That is the problem online tuition solves here more completely than almost anywhere else we teach.

Houston’s Muslim community includes large Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi populations alongside Arab, African-American, Nigerian and Somali families. Urdu, Bengali, Arabic and Yoruba are spoken at home. Teaching is delivered in clear English, with Arabic content taught through the Qaida method.
Slots run 4pm–9pm Central Time on weekdays and 9am–7pm at weekends, fitting the Texas school day. Our teachers work on Pakistan Standard Time, which is 10 to 11 hours ahead of Houston, so the earliest slots are the hardest to secure — 4pm and 5pm are the first to fill each term. If your family needs a late lesson after sports or after-school programmes, tell us early and we will hold the slot.

Yes — students come to us from Houston itself, Sugar Land, Katy, Alief, Spring, Cypress, Pearland, Clear Lake and The Woodlands. Because lessons are online, the distance across the metro area stops being a factor in choosing a teacher, which in Houston is a very real benefit.
Weekday slots run 4pm–9pm Central Time and weekend slots 9am–7pm. Our teachers work from Pakistan Standard Time, which is 10 to 11 hours ahead of Houston, so the earliest slots are limited and fill first. If you need a 4pm lesson, book before the term starts.
Yes, and it is what most Houston families do. A weekend school with a large class cannot give your child individual recitation time. We take exactly that part — makharij, Tajweed rules, correcting mistakes — and the weekend school continues to cover the wider curriculum. Many parents tell us their child’s standing in the weekend class improves within a couple of months.
Yes. Qualified female tutors are available for girls and for adult sisters and can be requested when you book. They are the usual choice for girls from around age seven.
Packages start at $35 a month for two weekend classes and go up to $87 a month for five weekday classes, with $47 and $70 options in between. Every new student begins with a free 30-minute trial lesson.
Regularly. Adults who want to read the Quran properly for the first time, or to correct recitation learned imperfectly as children, are a significant part of what we do. Evening slots to 9pm Central Time suit working adults, and the Noorani Qaida works perfectly well for a complete beginner of any age.
