Milkstone and Deeplish is the heart of Rochdale’s Muslim community, running south-east from the town centre along Milkstone Road and Deeplish Road. The ward is predominantly Pakistani, much of it Mirpuri, with a substantial Bangladeshi presence, and it holds one of the densest networks of masjids and maktabs in the borough.

Rochdale’s Muslim community is predominantly Pakistani, with Mirpuri and Punjabi widely spoken at home, alongside a substantial Bangladeshi community and a smaller Indian Muslim population. Teaching is delivered in English with Urdu support available.
Rochdale weekday slots run 4pm–10pm and weekends 10am–8pm. The 5pm and 6pm windows fill first, sitting between the end of the school day and the evening maktab. English by default, with Urdu support available. Most children we teach here speak English as their first language even where Mirpuri or Urdu is spoken at home. Teaching Tajweed in the language a child thinks in makes a real difference to how quickly the rules stick — and a child who does not speak Urdu is at no disadvantage.
Individual recitation time. In a group of fifteen to twenty children a child might recite for three or four minutes in a two-hour session; the rest is spent listening and waiting. In a 30-minute 1-to-1 lesson your child recites aloud and is corrected for the full half hour — roughly ten times the individual practice.
Very common, and it passes. The first lesson is spent on letters and simple sounds rather than asking for a full recitation, so the child is speaking before they feel they are performing. Most children are comfortable within two or three sessions. If they are not, tell us and we will change the approach.
