Quran Classes for Werneth Families

Oldham ward, England — live one-to-one lessons, taught online.

Werneth is the historic centre of Oldham’s Pakistani community, settled since the 1960s and still the densest Pakistani neighbourhood in the borough, with a long-established network of masjids and maktabs. Family ties reach back largely to Azad Kashmir and the Punjab.

Because Werneth families have been established here for three generations, many of our students are children whose parents read Arabic fluently but who themselves are growing up primarily in English. Teaching that works for them has to be in English without being shallow.

Why Werneth Parents Choose Ilm by Nouman

The same teaching every family gets — wherever in the world they live.

One teacher, one student

Every lesson is 1-to-1 live — never a group call. Your child speaks, recites and gets corrected the whole session.

Female teachers available

Qualified female tutors for sisters and daughters, so girls can learn comfortably and families can choose what suits them.

Timings built around school

After-school and evening slots that fit around the school run, maktab and madrasah, plus weekend mornings.

Certified Tajweed teaching

Taught personally by Qaari Nouman Mehmood, a qualified Quran and Tajweed teacher with formal ijazah training.

Progress you can see

Monthly assessment reports with recorded recitation, so parents hear the improvement rather than being told about it.

Safe and private

Sessions run on Zoom, Skype, Google Meet or WhatsApp video — whatever your family already uses and trusts.

The local community

Oldham’s Muslim community is predominantly Bangladeshi, with a large Pakistani population. Sylheti and Bengali are widely spoken at home alongside Urdu and Punjabi. Teaching is delivered in English, with Urdu support available and Bengali-speaking families in mind.

Local timings and how the week fits together

Oldham weekday slots run 4pm–10pm and weekends 10am–8pm. Because the Muslim wards sit within a couple of miles of the town centre, most children here can walk to maktab, and the after-school window fills quickly. If your child is at maktab until 7pm, the 7:30pm or weekend slots are the realistic option — and a weekend-only arrangement used purely for Tajweed works very well alongside it.

FAQs from Parents in Werneth

The questions we are actually asked by families in Werneth.

My child speaks English at home and little Urdu. Will they cope?

Perfectly — that is the majority of children we teach in Werneth. Lessons are delivered in English throughout, which is our default. Urdu support is available if you want it, but it is an option rather than the baseline, and a child who does not speak Urdu is not at any disadvantage.

How do you handle a child who can read but rushes and skips rules?

We record them reading a page they know well, then listen back with them and name the specific rules being skipped — almost always madd, ghunnah and the qalqalah letters. Naming the habit is half of breaking it. From there it is short, targeted practice, and parents usually hear a difference within a month.

Can you prepare my child for a madrasah exam or juz completion?

Yes. Where a student has a target date we build the lesson plan backwards from it. Tell us the deadline and the syllabus and we will map the weeks — including how much needs to be revised each week to hold it.
